Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and results-driven Head of Buying & Supply Chain to join our team. This role will oversee and optimize the development of our product range, manage our supply chain operations, and work closely with cross-functional teams to enhance efficiency and maintain high levels of service and product quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Supply Chain Strategy & Planning:
    • Develop and execute a supplier sourcing strategy
    • Support Merchandising in planning supplier production volumes
    • Negotiate with suppliers to secure purchase order volumes and dates.
  2. Commercial Range Development:
    • Develop a product development strategy
    • Guide the Buyer to create and manage a critical NPD process
    • Analyze competitor set and market trends
    • Develop a strategy for spare parts and price architecture
  3. Supplier Management & Relationship Building:
    • Manage and nurture strong, long-term relationships with key suppliers in China
    • Conduct regular supplier visits, audits, and performance reviews
    • Negotiate contracts, terms, and product pricing with suppliers
  4. Logistics & Operations Coordination:
    • Oversee logistics operations, including shipping and inventory management
    • Coordinate with freight forwarders and logistics providers
  5. Management of Technical Resource:
    • Identify and address risks in the supply chain
    • Ensure adherence to ethical standards and overall quality
    • Manage the relationship with SEDEX for ethical and quality standards
  6. Continuous Improvement:
    • Drive initiatives to enhance the efficiency and flexibility of the supply chain
    • Present regular supply chain performance reports to senior management
    • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant certifications is a plus.
  • Experience: 8-10 years in supply chain management, with at least 5 years focused on managing suppliers in China or other Asia-Pacific regions.
  • Skills: Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Analytical mindset with experience in using data to drive decisions and improvements.
  • Languages: Fluent in English, proficiency in Mandarin Chinese is a plus.
